Don’t shower in hard water

Hard water can make your hair and skin feel squeaky, dry, and itchy. It also makes your soap less effective because calcium ions compete with the sodium ions in the soap for bonding to the skin.

If you have hard water, it’s best to avoid showering at all costs because the mineral content increases significantly when the shower is running. Instead, try taking a bath with a few drops of essential oil added to your bathwater, or use an unscented body wash for sensitive skin.

Hair washed in hard water may become dry or frizzy, or even take on a duller appearance.

Calcium can accumulate at the base of hair follicles, which can cause breakage and difficulty of regrowing hair. On your scalp, the buildup of calcium can cause dryness and flaking, known as dandruff.

The best way to solve this problem is with a whole-house purification system. A good system will remove all minerals from your water supply and leave it soft and silky smooth. This will allow you to enjoy the benefits of clean, healthy skin, shiny hair, and more efficient appliances.
