What might be in my water?

Lead PB
We don’t allow lead in paint anymore, so why is it still in our water? Children are at the most risk for complications from exposure to lead. This can lead impaired hearing, cognitive issues, decreased growth, and damage to vital organs and red blood cells.

Nitrates
Large amounts of nitrates in water can be especially harmful to young children under the age of 6 months. Exposure to nitrates can lead to Methemoglobinemia, a potentially fatal disease.

Mercury
Exposures to high levels of mercury can affect the brain, kidneys, and developing fetus. The results of brain damage from inorganic and organic mercury include irritability, shyness, tremors, vision and hearing issues, and memory loss.

Arsenic
Arsenic is notorious for the issues it causes to our health and skin. This endocrine disruptor can lead to cancers of the skin, bladder, lungs, kidney, liver, and prostate. It is also harmful to our cardiovascular & nervous systems.
