Why do water bottles have expiration dates?

Water bottle expiration dates can be confusing, as they are often printed on the label. However, these dates are not related to the water quality.

Bottled water does have an expiration date, even if the water itself doesn’t go bad. The plastic can begin leaching into bottled water over time. Therefore, water bottles typically expire around two years from the date of manufacture.

If you locate a bottle of water past its expiration date, understand that the bottle won’t be as fresh anymore.

Therefore, using a reusable bottle is always the safest choice. You can also store your water in glass bottles or containers.
